Wes and Dyron, two lifelong friends, started this journey out of personal necessity. Both had grown their hair into locs, but like many with locs, they faced unique challenges. Wes noticed that his front taper would often curl up, making it difficult to keep smooth and laid down. To solve this, he cut a scarf into a band-like design and began wearing it.

After joking with Wes about wearing the band for weeks, Dyron decided to try it himself. Once he realized it actually worked and served a great purpose, he came back to Wes, sharing his experience and the potential demand he saw for the product. Soon after, they began developing The DuBand—the first hair product specifically designed for the taper.
